FLY FISHING THE NUBIAN FLATS IN SUDAN

The Nubian Flats is not merely another fishing trip and offers the adventurous angler the opportunity to experience a setting and culture like no other. Spanning some 400 miles of unexplored coastline, the Nubian flats of Sudan represent an untouched saltwater playground.It is the worlds finest trigger fishery offering numerous shots on a daily basis. Although not the focus there are also excellent numbers of trevally to tangle with along the coral edges.

The gateway for this trip is Port Sudan, which is an isolated town in the Nubian Desert. This is a very sparsely populated area and far removed from the security issues in South Sudan.

From our personal experience, as well as all of the guests that have joined us, during the many weeks we have spent in this wonderful and diverse country the atmosphere is extremely relaxed and a pleasure to travel through. The land crew and boat crew we work with are professional and efficient.

Deep South Trip

The Deep South trip includes from 9 to 13 full days of fishing on board the Motor Yacht Don Questo, so it will be possible to discover very remote areas completely unfished. In this trip you will visit the most virgin water of Sudan on board of a proper sea research vessel, the further from the coast and the closest to the border of Eritrea. During this journey it will be possible to visit the best place in the world for Triggerfish, with an incredible abundance of Reef species.

The journey starts from Port Sudan, on board one of our Motor Yacht Don Questo. 

Sudanese area is one of the current pure unfinished destinations; it comes with a 650 km coastline bordering the Red Sea and it is almost uninhabited.

At the moment Sudan is - the last new - in the world of fly fishing destinations. This makes this place even more exciting to visit for fly fishing! during the first exploration, we discover pristine flats and probably the best fisheries of Triggerfish of the world. Other common catches on the fly are Gt, Bohar Snapper, and Bluefin Trevally, but also Permit, Milkfish, Bumpehead Parrotfish and huge Bonefish and other coral species are present and possible to catch. For most fanatics, the huge presence of Dogtooth Tuna makes catching them on the fly highly possible.

Only barbless hooks are allowed, for safety and in respect of the fish.

For all Fly Rod Travel hosted trips, both deposits and final payments are non-refundable unless a client is replaced. i.e. you (or we) can find someone to take your spot. Both your deposit and final payment can be transferred to another client for the same trip.

Fly Rod Travel is not responsible for loss of fishing days due to missed flights, sickness, injury, weather delays, or any other reason. Fly Tod Travel also reserves the right to make alterations to the itinerary as deemed necessary or desirable, even if additional cost is passed onto members of the party. Additionally, any expenditures caused by delays, or occurrences beyond the control of Fly Rod Travel are the responsibility of the guest. Lost baggage, gear, rods, or other personal items are also not the responsibility of Fly Rod Travel.

Final Payment is acknowledgment the guest has read and understands these policies and those included in the accompanying waiver.
