My trip to Great Inagua was awesome! Claudiu was a fantastic teacher, rigging our rods, leading us to great spots, and coaching us on the techniques that we needed to hook and land “the grey ghosts of the flats.” We caught numerous bonefish and other species hiding in the reefs. He took care of everything we needed so that we could focus on the fishing and enjoyment of the island. Claudiu has a lot of passion and knowledge about fly fishing on the flats and I hope I get the opportunity to fish with him again!

Just got back from Ascension Bay, and it was the experience of a lifetime! The trip was meticulously organized, the guiding was top notch, accommodations and food were superb, and most importantly the fishing was outstanding! Our boat had two chances at a grand slam on our last day (still dreaming about the two tarpon that got away). Whether you are a novice or an expert, you will have a great time fishing in this one-of-a-kind ecosystem. I am already looking forward to the next one!

“Exceedingly patient with a saltwater newbie like me”
“I just returned from my first ever saltwater fly fishing trip and am already thinking about when I can return after being spoiled by six full days of adventure on the spectacular and expansive salt flats and mangroves of Ascension Bay, Mexico. The guides were amazingly familiar with every island and channel, knew where to find fish by time of day and wind conditions, and were exceedingly patient with a saltwater newbie like me as they guided me to my first ever landings of tarpon in the narrow channels of the mangroves (I would have never guessed I would use a bow and arrow cast with my new 8 wt), to large boneys in the wide open flats from the boat and wading. Our accommodations were comfortable and the food was excellent authentic Mexican dishes with new dishes every night except for the consistent flow of fresh guacamole, chips, ceviche, and cold beer we had when coming off the boats to revive us sufficiently to share our adventures and tales of the day. Thanks Claudiu. Looking forward to next year!”

I just had the distinct pleasure of going on the Ascension Bay trip this year with Claudiu and a great group of guys. I had been once before to Great Inagua with Claudiu, so I knew already he was very experienced at putting together these excursions and handling all of the little details that make for a great trip. This trip was no exception. It was just tremendous ... even for a beginner like me! The boat rides through the mangroves were incredible, the food was sensational, and the fishing was just magical. We had one afternoon where a school of Bonefish just hung out with us all afternoon and we waded, sight cast and caught "bonays" (as the Mexican guides called them) all afternoon. It was one of those afternoons that has me "hooked" for life. Thanks Claudiu for another excellent life experience!

As a newcomer to fly fishing, it’s it no wonder why people get hooked. With no prior experience, Claudiu and his team will have you catching fish in no time. On Crooked Island, I literally caught my first one within minutes after getting out of the boat and wading toward a school of bonefish. It will be an experience I will remember as one of the highlights of my life. Constantly surrounded by the beauty of nature seeing rainbows all over the place, and on top of that, you get to hang out with Claudiu who is one of the coolest guys I know. There is much to learn from this master.

“A great destination – Crooked Island has it all”
It is a pleasure going on fishing trips with Claudiu! My first trip to Crooked Island was my first contact with the trigger fish. That was a very good experience as that fish is an excellent target for the fly fisherman. It is real sight fishing for “tailing” fish. When the trip also ended with a landed permit and (of course) a lot of bonefish, it cannot get better!

I’ve been lucky enough to travel to fish with a lot of different people over the last 20 years. I’ve been on all sides of the equation- from working in a flyfishing travel agent office, trip host, guiding, to just being a travel client myself. Claudiu is a great guy to travel with- he makes sure your trip goes smooth from start to finish and you would be hard pressed to find a person who has a bigger engine for fishing and travel than he does. On top of that he is just plain fun to hang with. You would be hard pressed to find a better success story of living the American dream than Claudiu’s story.
